Company Director profile

 DSM was founded by our Managing Director Brian in 2011 on his retirement from the Fire and Rescue Service.  Brian  served in the Royal Navy for 10 years and left to join the Fire & Rescue Service where he completed over 25 years service.

Serving as an Operational Officer throughout Greater Manchester he managed hundreds of operation incidents in the dynamically changing environment of the fire incident ground in the role of Incident Commander.

Brian has a Post Graduate Diploma and  Master of Arts Degree in International Disaster Management, a HND in Fire Operations Management and is a qualified Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Officer.  He is also a Fire Scene Investigator, a Senior Accident Investigation Officer (SAIO) and held the role of Borough Health and Safety Co-ordinator for several years.

Brian is a Graduate (1993) and a Corporate Member (1995) of the Institution of Fire Engineers MI(Fire)E.  He is also a Technical member of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) and licensed to deliver "Managing Safely" or "Working Safely" courses, the nationally recognised foundation standard for Health and Safety in the UK.  He is also registered, and has experience in delivering  Qualsafe Awards Level 2 & 3 Health and Safety courses. 

Brian holds the NEBOSH General Certificate, Construction Certificate and Fire Certificate and teaches in the role of Lead Tutor at FE colleges and for private training providers in the North West.

 He also holds the PTLLS and CTLLS teaching qualifications and also assesses Level 5 delegates undertaking the City & Guilds Health and Safety Management programme.

As  a passionate supporter of Help for Heroes (H4H) and the Firefighters Charity Brian has helped to raise thousands of pounds for these very worthy causes.
